(foetal alcohol syndrome and pesticides)
I did find some papers/reports on the web from reputable/professional sources concerning the use of pesticides etc in the area of Chichigalpa, and its effects on health, which could support the claims concerning the health of Bernardo during childhood and beyond. I will look those out again. I also found articles relating to the fetal alcohol syndrome that he was diagnosed by after birth (deformity and prognosis as noted by his mother in her affidavit). Both of these materials I passed to Bernardo and he may in turn have passed them to TDS.

In respect to witness Silvia Cotera
Bernardo has been equally concerned to attend to the issue of the shooting and in particular evidence given at his trial regarding the struggle. (...). He has the name of this witness and we have tried to contact her. As I understand it, all these years later, she is concerned to move on with her life and not stir things up again. There was also mention of a video but again I do not now recollect without going back over the letters and papers, how this related to the matter. The witness was supposedly discredited as unreliable by the prosecution when she first publically retracted the evidence she gave to the trial court. (...)
I have traced an effort Bernardo and I made to make contact with Silvia Cotera - the witness I referred to as being one Bernardo thinks could still be of great value to him. I believe she is the one who has knowledge of this video (whatever it is about). It seems I found her on Facebook - my memory is getting shocking!

(In respect to witness Silvia Cotera)
From a document I saw today, it appears she [Silvia Cotera] was not called as a defense witness (at least at the 2000 request for a new trial. Bernardo had specifically instructed his attorney to do so, but he did not. Her testimony would have been that she witnessed a struggle for control of the weapon as Bernardo had claimed. This would have been consistent with the retracted witness evidence of two others who, after the first trial, claimed they had been coerced under the threat of further charges against them. That would have left their word against one hostile witness.
